Launching Travel Insurance for Yemen Airways

UIC launches the travel insurance service for passengers aboard Yemenia aircrafts which offers security against possible risks during travel. The service will be run by MAPFRE ASISTENCIA
At the launch ceremony in Sana'a, General Manager of United Insurance Tarek A. Hayel indicated that inaugurating this service would enhance Yemen Airways position to offer the best services to cope with the great development in the aviation industry. He point out that the travel insurance has become a mandatory document to travel to some countries, as the case is for many European countries, where this document is a prerequisite for obtaining an entry visa.

Othman Al-Qubati, Deputy Director General of Yemenia Commercial Affairs, said Yemenia cares about the safety of its clients aboard its airliners, and the service gives an additional extinguished insurance service starting at airports and on board the fleet to after arrival of passengers to specific destinations.

The insurance coverage in case of departure tickets is valid for 10 days after passengers arrive at their destinations, while in case of return tickets the coverage lasts 92 days, he said. The move also comes within the modernization plan of Yemenia, previously put into effect, he said, adding we want to keep high our competition level in regional and international markets.

The insurance covers medical land and air treatment when a passenger falls sick or become infected; providing a residence for and transport a relative of the passenger, included in the service; transporting his body in case of dead to homeland; and sending emergent medications for the passenger, said Director General of the Gulf Company, an affiliate to the Mapfre, Esam Al-Awami.

Moreover, it covers providing funds abroad in case of the need of a passenger, compensation for luggage losses during travel, compensation for late arrival of luggage, and compensation for finding luggage and personal properties and sending them to their owner.
